Our Lady Immaculate and St Andrew Parish Community
At Our Lady School, we take pride in our strong and vibrant connections with our parish. Our relationship with the parish community enriches the spiritual, educational, and social experiences of our students, fostering a nurturing environment where faith and learning go hand in hand. Here are some of the ways we collaborate and engage with our parish:
Parish Mass and Liturgies
Our students regularly participate in parish Masses and liturgies, deepening their understanding of the Catholic faith and its traditions. These spiritual gatherings are integral to our school's mission, providing students with opportunities to pray, reflect, and celebrate their faith as a community. Masses take place at church and also at school.
Sacramental Preparation
In partnership with our parish, we offer comprehensive sacramental preparation programs. Our students prepare for and receive the sacraments of First Holy Communion and Reconciliation, guided by our dedicated teachers and parish sacramental lead. These milestones are celebrated with the parish community, marking significant steps in our students' faith journeys.
Religious Education
Our religious education curriculum is closely aligned with the teachings of the Church, and our parish priest visits our classrooms to share their wisdom and insights. This collaboration ensures that our children receive a well-rounded and deeply rooted religious education.
Community Service – Hitchin Pantry
Service to others is a core value at our school, and our partnership with the parish allows us to extend our reach within the wider community. Together, we organise and participate in food collections for the Hitchin Pantry. This teach our students the importance of compassion and service.
Parent and Family Involvement
We believe that parents and families play a crucial role in the faith formation of their children. This partnership ensures a cohesive and supportive faith environment both at home and at school.
We are blessed to have such a strong connection with our parish, and we are committed to continuing this fruitful partnership. Together, we strive to create a nurturing environment where faith and education go hand in hand, preparing our students for a life of service, leadership, and faithfulness.
