PTA Annual General Meeting (AGM)

4th Nov 2026 19:30 OLS Dining Hall

What is the AGM?

The AGM is the PTA’s Annual General Meeting. It is an opportunity for parents, carers and PTA members to come together to look back on the past year, review the fundraising activities and events that have taken place, and discuss plans for the year ahead.

During the meeting, we will review the PTA’s finances, share what the money raised has helped to provide for the school, and elect or confirm committee members for the coming year. It is also a chance for everyone to ask questions, share ideas and help shape the future of the PTA.

What roles are available within the PTA?

Like any organisation, the PTA benefits from having a small committee to help keep things running smoothly. There are several roles, and each plays an important part in supporting our school community.

* Chair: Helps lead and organise the PTA committee, chairs meetings, supports the planning of fundraising events and activities, and works with the school to help ensure the PTA supports its needs.

* Vice Chair: Supports the Chair in leading and organising the PTA, helps coordinate meetings and fundraising activities, and steps in for the Chair when needed. This role is a great way to share responsibilities and help keep the PTA running smoothly.

* Treasurer: Looks after the financial side of the PTA, keeping track of money raised and spent, managing the accounts and providing updates on the PTA’s finances.

* Secretary: Helps keep the PTA organised by preparing meeting agendas, taking minutes and keeping a record of meetings and decisions.

* Class Representatives: Help share information about PTA events and activities within their class groups, keeping parents and carers informed and encouraging involvement.

The Chair does not do everything alone, and neither does any other committee member. The PTA is very much a team effort, with everyone working together to raise funds, organise fun events and create opportunities for our children and families.

Everyone is welcome!

You do not need previous experience to get involved, and attending the AGM does not mean you have to commit to a committee role. Whether you can offer a little time, help at an event, share an idea or take on a more formal role, every contribution is valued and makes a difference.

Being part of the PTA is a really lovely way to contribute to the school, support our children and help build a strong, welcoming school community. It is also a great opportunity to meet other parents and carers and work together to make positive things happen for the children.

We would love to see as many of you as possible at the AGM. If you are interested in becoming Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, a Class Representative or simply finding out more about how you could help, please do come along to the meeting. You are also very welcome to speak to me beforehand, and I will be more than happy to answer any questions and talk you through what is involved.

Every idea, helping hand and bit of time makes a difference, and you do not have to do it alone. We hope you will consider getting involved and helping us make the PTA the best it can be for our school community.
